Guidelines
Disposable media must be central and integral to the film.
Acceptable devices include anything that you might have on you: cell phones, point and shoot cameras, DSLRs, webcams, screen capture software, Flip video cams, and the like. We love when filmmakers get creative with their equipment.
Use of multiple devices is encouraged but by no means necessary
Submissions must be under 10 minutes
Submissions must be accompanied by a non-refundable submission fee (deadlines and associated fees outlined above).
If selected, the filmmaker will be contacted and must provide an uncompressed version of the film via our ftp.
Filmmakers are responsible for their usage of restricted or copyrighted material. (DFF is not liable for any copyright material unlawfully used)
Selections will be equally judged on the inventive and experimental use of the media as well as the content of
the film.

Ted Hope
Dubbed "the most powerful man in independent cinema," Ted Hope is the producer of over sixty films, including 21 GRAMS, AMERICAN SPLENDOR, HAPPINESS, THE ICE STORM, IN THE BEDROOM and ADVENTURELAND. Ted has won three Sundance Grand Prizes and produced the first features of Alan Ball, Michel Gondry, Hal Hartley, Nicole Holofcener, and Ang Lee. He blogs at Hope For Film and co-founded the Indie Film review site Hammer To Nail. Ted's most recent productions include: SUPER, starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler and Kevin Bacon; DARK HORSE, written and directed by Todd Solondz, and starring Jordan Gelber, Selma Blair, Justin Bartha, Mia Farrow, and Christopher Walken; and MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, starring Elizabeth Olsen.
Hawk Ostby
Hawk Ostby is the celebrated co-writer of the Oscar-nomianted CHILDREN OF MEN and 2008's IRONMAN, starring Robert Downey Jr. Hawk recently co-wrote the 2011 blockbuster COWBOYS AND ALIENS.
Joe Walker
Joe Walker is an acclaimed film and sound editor whose most recent work includes SHAME, which garnered him a British Independent Film Award nomination, HARRY BROWN, starring Michael Caine, and the YouTube-produced documentary LIFE IN A DAY, culled from over 4,500 hours of user generated footage.
Carrie Kemper
Carrie Kemper wrote a one-act play about a dog committing suicide called "The Bottom of the Pool," which got her a job writing for NBC's "The Office," where she is currently a story editor. She also wrote, directed, and edited a web series shot in Argentina called "Emily Time."
Vanessa Hope
Vanessa started her film career in China while teaching a graduate course on "Law and Society" at People's University. Fluent in Chinese, she produced THE STORY OF ERMEI, which debuted at the Berlin Film Festival 2004. In 2007, she produced the short film TOMBEE DE NUIT SUR SHANGHAI. Vanessa's credits also include producing THE IMPERIALISTS ARE STILL ALIVE! (Sundance 2010) and WILLIAM KUNSTLER: DISTURBING THE UNIVERSE (Sundance 2009). Vanessa is currently directing a documentary feature shooting in the US and China about US-China relations called THE BALLAD OF EAST AND WEST.
Blake Whitman
Blake Whitman is the Community Director for Vimeo.com, an online video platform where filmmakers can post, comment on, and receive feedback on their films.
Joshua Grannell
Joshua Grannell is a celebrated writer, director and performer. As Peaches Christ, Joshua created and host Midnight Mass, the most successful midnight movie series in America, with special guests including Linda Blair, John Waters, Elvira, Mink Stole and Mary Woronov. Joshua's directorial work includes the 2002 TRAN-ILOGY OF TERROR including SEASON OF THE TROLL, A NIGHTMARE ON CASTRO STREET, and WHATEVER HAPPENED TO PEACHES CHRIST. In 2004, Joshua wrote and directed the short film GRINDHOUSE, which became the basis for his 2010 feature film and road show, ALL ABOUT EVIL.
Michael Guillén
Michael Guillén is a freelance film journalist in the San Francisco Bay Area. He's a member of the San Francisco Film Critics Circle, administers his own film site, The Evening Class, and is a contributing writer to such online sites as Fandor and MUBI, as well as print venues "Film International," "movieScope," "Film Festival Yearbook," and "Ray."
